One of Kapuso's bankable young stars is celebrating his 17th birthday and as early as now, he wants to campaign for improved literacy most especially for people his age. Miguel Tanfelix spent a day at the Christian Missions Service Philippines, reading a book with love team Bianca Umali to inspire kids to read more.
"I love books and instead of puro tayo Facebook and games, maybe devote din tayo ng extra time to read," the Starstruck Kids alumnus said. Miguel's birthday is on September 21st and he is thankful for his management, the GMA Artist Center for allowing him to do an outreach activity 4 days before his special day.
The Christian Missions Service Philippines is a non-government organization working on providing a temporary alternative home life and child care and development service to orphaned kids. One of their main thrusts is to provide basic education to their children beneficiaries.
Miguel's outreach activity at the CMSP is also in line with his and Bianca's Pass-a-Book project with GMA 7. "Pass-a-Book ni BiGuel" aims to collect unused books from those who want to donate to be given to schools and other educational centers who lacked the funds to purchase their own books. "We're glad that we still have the opportunity to do this even if busy kami sa different projects," Bianca said.
Miguel and Bianca are currently working on their next TV series at the Kapuso Network "Maybe This Time". A heavier drama compared to their previous soaps "Nino" and "Once Upon a Kiss", the young love team is excited for the premiere of their new show. The show is scheduled to replace the long-running afternoon soap "The Half Sisters" when it wraps up in October. Reportedly, the management is considering putting "Maybe This Time" on primetime.
With Miguel and Bianca in their new TV series are Mark Anthony Fernandez, Alessandra de Rossi, Rochelle Pangilinan and Camille Pratts. Miguel is also one of the new hosts for the new season of Starstruck. When asked about his continued success, he remains thankful. "Go go lang. Thank you Lord!"
Miguel's birthday was made possible by GMA Artist Center, Children's Hour, Calayan, Aquabest, Kambal Pandesal, and BUM Apparel.
