We normally often hear actors keeping their professionalism while doing intimate scenes. But for Viva actor JD Aguas, who has done numerous sex scenes for his movies on the streaming platform VMX (formerly VivaMax), feeling the lust while doing their sexy scenes with his co-actor is important so they can portray their roles effectively.
JD Aguas has appeared in VMX titles ‘Bedspacer’ with Christine Bermas, Micaela Raz, and Matthew Francisco, and in ‘‘Dilig’ with Dyessa Garcia, Rica Gonzales and Chad Solano. In total, he has appeared in seven films with six of them all released in 2024.
“Kailangan mo din talaga maramdaman ‘yung libog eh, para maramdaman din ‘yun ng audience,” he directly said. “Kailangan kayong dalawa ng partner mo maramdaman n’yo ‘yun, para maramdaman din ng mga manonood sa’min.”
JD is just 23 years old who admitted that he is just feeling what men his age would naturally feel when doing risky scenes with attractive ladies. “Tao ka lang din eh. Ang hypocrite naman for you to say na wala lang ‘yun sa’yo. Syempre mararamdaman mo din ‘yung libog,” he said.
Among his movies, it is in ‘Kulong’ where he felt the extra heat while working with his ex-girlfriend Cariz Manzano. “Syempre gusto mo ‘yung tao, attracted ka dun and then skin to skin pa kayo so iba siya,” he shared. In ‘Kulong’, Cariz is co-starred by Jenn Rosa and Aida Velasco who portrayed as friends who locked themselves in a resort to write a screenplay for a contest. The girls struggled with writing an effective screenplay when none of them has ever experienced sex. With the help of JD’s character, the three girls went on an experimentation to explore the act of sex themselves.
JD admitted that he got carried away in his scenes that his plaster was removed. “Nag react talaga ako dun. Natanggal talaga ‘yung plaster. Pero syempre tuloy lang kasi mas nakakapagod if mag cut and mag take ulit,” JD divulged. It is also in the same movie where he passed out while they were doing 19 sequences in one day which consisted sexy scenes and heavy dramatic sequences, an example of how physically demanding even steamy films are.
Aguas is also taking some unexpected reactions from his leading ladies to be just part of the work. “Minsan ramdam mo na naki-carried away na din sila. You can feel it naman eh. I take it is as a boost in self-confidence na attractive ako for them,” he shared, also adding on how these scenarios are becoming too normal for their genre of movies.
As to restrictions on what can be done and what are the limitations in the blocking and flow of their intimate scenes, he shared how communication with his co-actor is important. He usually asks them what cannot be done, which also differs on how much freedom they’re given by their directors. “May iba na pwede i-kiss ang boobs, may iba naman na bawal. Syempre you have to maintain that level of respect for your actors.” “Pero di ba, ‘yun naman talaga ginagawa in real life? Talaga namang hinahalikan ‘yung boobs ng babae,” he argued.
In his seventh title ‘Las Ilusyunadas’ which was released on the VMX platform on January 10, 2025, JD was straightforward in admitting his attraction for scene partner Angeline Aril. When asked if she finds her beautiful, JD was fast in divulging: “Sobra!” There is also this challenge of overcoming your fondness for your screen partner so you can effectively perform your scenes. For ‘Las Ilusyunadas’, he was glad that he was able to overcome the awkwardness for Angeline.
With theater background, JD would say that the closer to real life the emotions that he felt while filming, the better it is for the movie’s narrative. “Nakikita mo din talaga sa kanila eh (leading ladies) ‘yung totoong nasasarapan sa inaarte. For me, mas maganda talaga ‘yung mga eksena na mas nafi-feel nila ‘yung sarap,” he said.
With the way VMX flicks are produced, it is normal for an actor to appear in 10 or more movies and JD said that he is not ready to stop anytime soon. Although he refers to his VMX stint as a “stepping stone” to getting better projects - just like other VMX actors - he said that he is ready to render service when still needed by the platform.
The ultimate goal, however, is to appear in films that he aspires. “Gusto ko din naman makagawa ng mga period film, mga political film, mga MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival) films in the future di ba?”
JD is also thankful that he has not felt any difference with how his family and friends treat him despite doing steamy films. He says that it has to start with your own personal acceptance. “Di ko siya tinitignan as mababang form ng art. In fact, surprised ako na may natututunan din ako sa mga VMX characters ko. It’s good for me to have this platform where I can still showcase my talents and my passion — which is acting.”
