Derrick Monasterio caught all of us off-guard. It seemed like it is just yesterday that he is exchanging pa-cute stares with Bea Binene on a youth-oriented show. Now, the young actor is taking off his clothes, one magazine cover after the other.
He is no longer just talking about crushes too. Derrick becomes so vocal about indecent proposal, sex scandals, and non-singers recording albums.
At the bloggers conference of his new self-titled album, Derrick did not think twice revealing the indecent proposals that he had received. Derrick shared how he was offered a condo in BGC that he has to turn down. The Kapuso actor revealed that the offers we usually done by a "middle man" he met in showbiz functions.
When asked on how he treats "middle men", Derrick said that his job requires him to be polite. "Di kasi ako puwedeng magsuplado eh. Di ako puwede magsungit. So, "ah, talaga?" Ganun na lang." He added that there was never an indecent proposal yet that offended him.
On the sex scandals that plagued the internet almost every day about two months ago, Derrick assured that he doesn't have his own. "Wala eh. Di ako gumagawa ng ganun", he said. To those actors with scandals, "Aminin na lang nila kasi lalong lalaki lang." "Kung may maipagmamalaki naman, aminin mo," the actor quipped.
Derrick has released his first ever self-title album under GMA records. The album has six tracks which is bannered by his own rendition of the OPM classic "Kailangan Kita." The album, which is available in hard copies in record bars and also for downloads on iTunes, is a fusion of both revival and original compositions.
The new recording star is not worried that some people are under the impression that he isn't a singer. Derrick countered that by giving the bloggers a live sample of some of his songs. The online media was amused of the young actor's singing ability. "Hindi niyo lang siguro ako palaging naririnig kumanta but I can sing," he said, further talking about actors who had albums but aren't singers in the first place.
"Basta, makinig kayo sa album. I'm sure magugustuhan nila," Derrick said.
