From the most outrageous to the most culturally relevant, the girls flew from different corners of the world armed with the biggest luggage for their national costumes. But why such effort for a segment that is not part of the actual scoring system?
Like in the past editions, the national costume portion is not scored. Even if you win this special award, it isn't a guarantee that you can make it as finalist. It brings zero help to your preliminary average.
However, forming a very important part of the Miss Universe tradition, the national costume round is considered an added exposure for the candidates. And judges have the tendency to give more attention to those who are popular online and to the press. Not to mention, the more exposure could mean more vote, which is very important especially to this year's edition where one candidate could be voted into the Final 12.
For this National Costume judging, let's leave the outrageous behind. We picked twelve of the most culturally relevant, well-designed and most creative national costumes. Here is our Magic 15!
Thailand
Belize
India
Malaysia
Ecuador
Venezuela
Vietnam
Myanmar
Panama
Dominican Republic
Argentina
France
