Last night at the Kia Theatre is a parade of Filipino ingenuity and craftsmanship as the 40 candidates of Binibining Pilipinas sashayed on the runway in their national costumes. The good thing is that almost all regions are represented, from the Cordilleras down to the Tirurays of southern Mindanao, not focusing too much on the overused Terno.
The million-dollar question remains though. Why are the national costumes in the local pageant so glamorous but when it's our turn to showcase these colors to the world through international pageants, we always end up using the - for the lack of a better term - ugly ones?
The national costumes presented last night were all amazing. Any one of those designs can make the country proud. We hope that we can use or maximize them for international pageants. That is if we can not produce something grander.
Anyway, here are the the Top 10 Binibinis in National Costumes as pre-selected by the judges. The winner will be announced on the coronation night on March 18 at the Smart Araneta Colesium.
If Glitz.PH has to choose the best from these finalists, we would go for Binibini 35, Sandra Lemonon as the Best in National Costume. Check out her photo below!
Binibini 4 - Ana Patricia Asturias
Binibini 11 - Maria Andrea Abesamis
Binibini 18 - Rosantonette Mendoza
Binibini 19 - Michelle Gumabao
Binibini 20 - Catriona Gray
Binibini 29 - Samantha Kaye Avecruz
Binibini 20 - Sarah Margarette Joson
Binibini 31 - Jehza Mae Huelar

Just because it is a really beautiful batch of National Costumes and also a gorgeous batch of contestants, here are 5 additional hot picks from GLITZ.PH who we think are worthy of attention.
Either they have been overlooked during the judging for they may have "weaker" presence on stage or maybe 10 is just too narrow of a selection from an awesome parade of 40 entrants.
Binibini 1 - Vickie Marie Rushton
Binibini 8 - Marie Sherry Tormes
Binibini 10 - Kayesha Chua
Binibini 14 - Samantha Bernardo
Binibini 34 - Mary Joy De Castro
