We think we've seen enough of Gary Valenciano. For almost 4 decades now, we've seen him take on several national TV shows and sold out concerts one after the other. But as what they say, you can never be tired of a classic - used here as something outstanding of its kind and of highest quality. Gary V is Gary V. And after hundreds of shows, we still want more.
Such is the case in #Reenergized, his two-night Valentine's show at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Newport World Resorts (formerly Resorts World Manila) on February 14 and 15. That with the well-executed select hits of his, listening to them still feels special and beautiful -- even after all this time.
Gary performed in chorus his radio-loved tunes "Until Then", "How Did You Know" and "Kailangan Kita", among others, to the crowd's content. One stood out, however, is his heart-warming performance of "Take Me Out Of The Dark", which brought some of the audience to tears, that it's as if they heard the song only now, or that they relate to the song too much.
The theme songs that are caressed by Gary's very identifiable voice went on with the recent hit "Wag Ka Nang Umiyak" which we see as a hymn that will live on time eternal, and a lovely duet with daughter Kiana with the ultra hit "Sana Maulit Muli."
A Gary V show isn't complete of course without a medley of beat-smashing performances. True to his "Pure Energy" moniker, he ended the night in an upbeat "Hataw Na", "re-energized" as before.
Valentine's was generally less commercialyy celebrated this year. But if we can sink our hearts and celebrate with timeless tunes, we can sure rely on Gary Valenciano to give us the feels.
