Belief on ‘Green Bones’ to headline story of redemption in MMFF 2024

After someone’s remains are cremated and green bones appear, it is a cultural belief that the deceased was a good person, and that he died with no evil intention in his heart. This is the anchor of the story in GMA Pictures’ entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival starring Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid.

Watch the cast explain ‘Green Bones’.

Dennis Trillo plays Domingo Zamora, who is trying to change the course of his life after being convicted for the murder of his sister. Ruru Madrid, meanwhile, plays the a prison guard, in his first movie lead role.

Trillo have to shed some pounds for his role, which he had to balance after coinciding with the filming of his drama series ‘Pulang Araw’. Entertainment press are abuzz on Trillo’s chances for winning the Best Actor this year. If he will bring home the trophy, this will be Trillo’s second Best Actor trophy after winning for ‘One Great Love’ in 2018, and third acting award after winning Best Supporting Actor in ‘Aishite Imasu’.

Ruru for his part is ecstatic for his first MMFF lead role. His first MMFF was as a support cast for ‘Meant To Beh’. After two big-scale TV series in ‘Black Rider’ and ‘Lolong 2’, Ruru is content to end the year with a quality film.

This is director Zig Dulay’s back to back collaboration with GMA Films after winning First Best Picture last year via ‘Firefly’. For Zig, being in a company of quality films for the annual MMFF is already a feat in itself. ‘Green Bones’ is a story on being given an opportunity to redeem one’s self after a serious life mistake.

Green Bones’ is one of the entries of the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024. It will be shown in cinemas nationwide starting December 25.
