Filipina Singer Amy Vachal in The Voice US Season 9

It seems like Filipino singers are everywhere. First, we have sisters Fourth Impact and Neneth Lyons in X Factor UK Season 12 and then we have Cyrus Villanueva who is already part of the Top 10 in X Factor Australia Season 7.

The list does not end there. Over at competing singing contest The Voice US, another half Filipina has just made it to the blind auditions of the show's 9th season. She is 26 year-old jazz singer Amy Vachal who traces her roots to a political clan in Cebu City.

Amy sang Michel Buble's "Dream A Little Dream of Me" which got all three judges; country singer Blake Shelton, singer-producer Pharrell Williams, and punk-pop artist Gwen Stefani, pushing their buttons. Shelton pushed his button first at the 23rd second of Vachal's performance which was followed very closely by Williams and Stefani. It would have been a four-chair turn for Vachal but fourth judge Adam Levine is no longer eligible to push his button since he has already completed his team of 12 singers.

"My team is full. Otherwise I would have turn around first because... Not only am I sad that I didn't get to turn around for you but you can win this whole thing," the Maroon 5 front singer said.

Amy with her American father, Filipina mother and her brother who were interviewed moments before she performed for the blind auditions. Amy traces her roots to the Garcia clan of Cebu while she was born and raised in New York. The episode with her blind audition is scheduled to be shown tonight, October 7th, at 8PM on cable channel VXN.

Amy eventually chose to join the team of Pharrell Williams, the winning coach from last season. Williams opened his speech to win Amy by asking her what genre she is interested in. "I am interested in blurring lines... I wanna make a new hybrid," she responded. "Let me be the guy who helps you explore that sound," the Grammy-winning singer-producer ended his talk.

Amy reportedly has lived all her life in Brooklyn, New York. She was born to an American father and a Filipina mother. According to Sun.Star Cebu, Amy is the daughter of Dierdra Garcia- Vachal, the younger sister of former Cebu Governor and now 3rd District Representative Gwendolyn Garcia.

Based on her Facebook page, Vachal came home to the Philippines shortly after typhoon Haiyan. She posted a photo of a rainbow taken in the Philippines on November 13, 2013.

Amy is one of the 48 singers who will move on to the next round of The Voice, the Battles, which will begin next week. But for tonight (October 7th), her blind audition's episode will be aired at 8PM on cable channel VXN.

This is the extended video of her blind audition.
