‘Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis’ star Bong Revilla, Jr. on love children: They have to be accepted

Parents must accept their love children and assume responsibility, Senator Bong Revilla Jr. said in his press conference for the third season of his TV series ‘Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis’.

He himself has accepted his love children that were all proven via DNA tests, which was possible also with the acceptance of his wife and Cavite 2nd District Congresswoman, Lani Mercado. “I-pa DNA mo. At kung talagang anak mo siya, panagutan mo,” Revilla said.

Alam ni Lani ‘yun,” the returning Senator declared without divulging much on the details. “Meron. And makikilala n’yo rin sila soon.”

The declaration stemmed from the question on how the cast will take it if one day, a kid will come forward and claim to be their partner’s child. For Beauty Gonzales, who plays the role of Gloria, the wife of Tolome (Bong Revilla, Jr.), she will also accept the child. “Wala namang kasalanan ang bata ‘dun. Deserve din niya to have that sense of family,” she said.

Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis’ is a remake of the 1994 hit movie starring also Bong Revilla, Jr. and his girlfriend then Lani Mercado. It was adapted into a TV series in June 2023 for Season 1 and continued in Season 2 which was first aired in February 2024. The third season is set to premiere on December 22, 2024 on GMA 7.

Like the original movie, the comical aspect of the series is how Tolome loses his super police machismo every time he is being confronted by his wife Gloria. Bringing this to their real lives, the male cast perceived this form of submission as respect. “Hindi naman sa takot. Respeto mo na din ‘yun sa asawa mo,” comedian Jeffrey Tam, who portrays as Bunso Batumbakal in the series, said.

The trailer of the film shows high-production action stunts with some performed by Revilla himself. He has just recovered lately from an operation removing his achilles tendon which made the crew weary. “Medyo napapailing sila if may stunts na subamit ako. I will just say ‘I am okay’,” Bong shared.

It was also this operation that made him suspend the filming of his supposed Metro Manila Film Festival entry ‘Alyas Pogi’. Bong has been a staple also of the annual MMFF with entries like ‘Captain Barbel’, ‘Resiklo’, and ensemble films ‘Ang Panday’ and ‘Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote.’ His last entry was 12 years ago via ‘Si Agimat, Si Enteng, at si Ako’.

Revilla, however, also plans to go back, not just to the MMFF but to the big screen. His advocacy is to bring back the supposed lost glory of action films. “Yun ang nawala eh, yung action films. And gusto natin siya maibalik para sa mga manonood.”

‘Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis also stars Carmi Martin, Liezel Lopez, Nino Muhlach, Raphael Landicho, Jestoni Alarcon, Joko Diaz, Leo Martinez and more. It will premiere the Sunday before Christmas Day, on December 22, and with episodes to be aired every Sunday evening on GMA 7
