Joel Lamangan’s star-studded ‘Fatherland’ in cinemas starting Black Saturday, April 19

 

What’s a good way to spend your Black Saturday? One great way is to watch a social drama about a Filipino-American young man in search of his Filipino father, from whom his American mother abducted him from when he was 7 years old. This dramatic journey helps provide realization in looking for life’s missing piece. 

Inigo Pascual leads the cast as the young Filipino-American, looking for his father who is being portrayed by Allen Molina. Joining them are a powerhouse cast which include Cherry Pie Picache, Mercedes Cabral, Angel Aquino and Ara Davao. 


Kasel Kinouchi and Richard Yap are also part of the cast. Joining the ensemble are Max Eigenmann, Jim Pebanco, Jeric Gonzales, Rico Barrera and Abed Green. 

From the award-winning duo of director Joel Lamangan and Roy Iglesias, ‘Fatherland’ explores many social issues from land grabbing, Muslim separatism to the very recent controversies surrounding POGO or the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations. 


Along with the complexities of searching for one’s past, the movie is also about acceptance as Dizon’s character who has multiple disorder brought about by complex circumstances and relationships. These lessons on acceptance and finding your life’s puzzle are perfect for your Holy Week life realizations.
