Lani Misalucha to perform ‘at her best’ in her Solaire concert despite permanent ear infection

Lani Misalucha will continue to share the gift of her vocal prowess to her fans through her upcoming concert ‘Still Lani’ which will be held on August 21, 2025 at The Theater in Solaire. This is despite the health struggles that she and her family are enduring.

It was in October of 2020, pandemic year, when Lani and her husband Noli were rushed to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig after a bacterial infection. They were diagnosed to have ingested Streptococcus suis, a bacteria that is a significant pathogen in pigs that can infect and become harmful to humans.

The Asia’s Nightingale recounted how they underwent a lumbar tap, a critical medical procedure where a needle is inserted into the spinal canal to collect cerebrospinal fluid. This was after they were rushed to the hospital after feeling severe fever and body pains.

Immediately after their admission, they were told to have ingested “bad meat”. The medical conclusion from the doctors is bacterial meningitis, something they got after dining out in a restaurant in Metro Manila.

The couple recovered from severe effects from the infection, but it left a damage from her hearing — which could be permanent. Given the 5-year timeframe since they were infected, Lani and her husband have accepted the fact that her hearing problem will stay with her for the rest of her music career. She looks at this still positively. At least buhay, nakaka-function pa, nakakalakad pa kahit natutumba tumba,” the veteran singer said.

She was also transparent to share how her damaged hearing affected her singing. It is making her miss some notes. “Lahat ng music, lahat ng nadidinig, ko sintonado,” she shared. “I was having a hard time singing in the late 2020 because I was under (prescribed) steroids for over a month.”

I want to let you know that, oo, naging sintunado talaga ako,” she shared further. “Di ko talaga honestly ma-explain eh kung ano ‘yung nadidinig ko. Kasi parang nag ra-rumble siya when the music is too loud. There is this kind of distortion.”

The diva who produced timeless hits like “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin”, “Tunay Na Mahal” and “Tila” among others is taking it slow, holding her 40th anniversary concert in an intimate venue like The Theater in Solaire. The concert is scheduled on August 21, 2025.

Despite keeping it intimate, Lani will be backed by a 40-piece orchestra and will still make it to be a night of musical marvel. “With the help of talented people and with God, it will be a great night of music and I will always try to be at my best,” Lani assured.
