After getting the unexpected traction, mostly from law students who were inspired by the characters in the first ‘Bar Boys’ movie, Carlo Aquino, Rocco Nacino, Enzo Pineda and Kean Cipriano are back to reprise their roles with hopes of motivating the youth some more in ‘Bar Boys: After School’.
At the movie’s grand conference, director and writer Kip Oebanda shared how inspired he was in seeing the comments when the first film was published on his YouTube channel. As of this writing, the movie amassed more than 17 million views with more than 16,000 comments.
Kip said that he was surprised seeing the positive feedback, ranging from pursuing their law studies to trying the bar exams again after failing during their first try. “Nagulat ako talaga. And na-inspire ako again to write the script for a sequel. The purpose naman of moviemaking is inspiring people eh. And with what I saw on YouTube, I think it merits for a second movie,” the director said.
Joining the original cast in the ‘Bar Boys’ sequel are Pinoy Big Brother: Collab alumni Will Ashley and Emilio Daez. Klarisse de Guzman is also in the film. Oebanda said that the addition of Ashley, Daez and de Guzman in the movie are pivotal in the movie’s narrative and not just necessarily to add star power into the Metro Manila Film Festival entry.
Also in the movie are Sassa Gurl, Glaiza de Castro, Therese Malvar and Bryce Eusebio. Benedix Ramos, who is part of the stage adaptation is also in the film. While Odette Khan, who portrays an important role in the first film, will remain key in the story.
Being a faithful sequel, ‘Bar Boys: After School’ explores the lives of Atty. Erik Vicencio (Carlo Aquino), Atty. Torran Garcia (Rocco Nacino), Atty. Christian Carlson (Enzo Pineda), and Joshua Zuniga (Kean Cipriano) ten years after the timeline of the first film. It’s main takeaway: highlighting how one can reap the rewards of going after our goals.
This feel-good of a movie will premiere in cinemas starting December 25 together with 7 other entries of the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival.
