AlDub is First Love Team on Wikipedia

Referring to AlDub as the first huge success in converging broadcast and social media may not be the only achievement of today's most popular team-up. They are also the first ever love team to have a comprehensive Wikipedia page.

Very well-written, Wikipedia readers observe the AlDub page. It referred to Kapuso actor Alden Richards and Dubsmash celebrity Maine Mendoza as a "fictional super couple" and explained how the sensational pairing began.

The page is also complete with a Background and Overview portion which narrated how Richards was given a slot in Eat Bulaga's "That's My Bae" Segment and how Mendoza was cast as Yaya Dub in "Juan For All, All for Juan" in July 2015.

The 30-minute KalyeSerye, a soap opera parody, is also highlighted on Wikipedia. The website mentioned how the segment is being maintained to be "natural and unscripted", adding that spontaneity is a "big part of the charm". Comedians Wally Bayola (as Lola Nidora), Jose Manalo (as Frankie Arenoli), and Paolo Ballesteros as himself join AlDub in the KalyeSerye. New characters are being introduced in recent episodes and with how it is trending daily on Twitter, the public is excited to meet more.

The audience reception to AlDub and its cultural impact is also explained in detail. It reported the 32% surge in Eat Bulaga's ratings on August 8, 2015 (Source: AGB Nielsen Philippines) after the wedding episode was aired. Kantar Media Philippines also cited the love team for contributing to the noontime show's soaring audience share for weeks, climaxing with a 36.1% last Wednesday, August 12 when the couple nearly crossed paths.

In the internet age, Wikipedia is considered to be among the prime sources of information most especially on historical and scientific subjects. The website has deep references of pop culture and this early, barely a month after it became an overnight hit, AlDub has already secured its spot.

Although it can be noted that anyone can just publish an article or edit a content on Wikipedia, we can't deny that AlDub's massive success deserves a space in the online encyclopedia. With or without Wikipedia, and even coming from a non-fan, the AlDub phenomenon is already a significant part of our entertainment's history.

Oh, and it was mentioned that the producers of Eat Bulaga! and APT Productions are looking at making a movie for AlDub? Looks like a Filmography is to be constructed soon on their Wikipedia page too!
