Binibining Pilipinas 2015 alumnus Alaiza Flor Malinao is one of the two Filipinas set to represent the country in the 4th season of Asia's Next Top Model. The 22-year old native of Davao del Sur is a runway model and has reached the Top 15 of last year's national tilt which was won by the new Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach.
For the last three seasons of AsNTM, Philippine representatives always placed as runners-up. Stephanie Retuya lost to Thai Jessica Amornkuldilok for the top prize in 2012 and Jodilly Pendre lost by a hairline to Sheena Liam of Malaysia in 2014. Last year, Monika Sta. Maria became the third consecutive Filipina runner-up after losing to Ayu Gani of Indonesia in the finals. Will 2016 be the year of the Phillippines?
Another Binibini alumnus is rumored to join Alaiza in Singapore to compete for the continental title which is initially scheduled to air beginning March 9th. It has also been reported that the Filipinas are facing strong competition from Thailand, South Korea and the defending champions, the Indonesians. Let's see in March if these are all true.
