Martin del Rosario: Less Time on Gossips, More on Business

For Martin del Rosario, gossips don't bother him anymore. May it be about the status of his love life or attacks on his sexuality, he couldn't care less. He would rather spend most of his time focusing on his showbiz career and engaging in business.

Last weekend for example, Martin is busy trying to make the opening night of his new business venture, bar and party place The Armory, which is located along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City.

In between tapings and TV guestings, Martin is working with 4 other friends to think of a unique offering for The Armory. "It is a warehouse, medyo underground. Even the music, hindi siya kasing mainstream nung pini-play sa ibang clubs," he said. Despite the underground theme, the drinks are premium but not expensive.

Martin himself attended a two-week crash course on mixology to make sure that the drinks on their menu would please their guests. "Yung mga drinks ko kasing taste nung mga nasa Makati, nasa Fort, pero mas mababa yung price," the young actor added. For his personal referral to those who would soon visit the place, he'd recommend the Sangria. However, Gin with Tonic Water is his personal favorite.

"Yung artista kasi di naman forever yan eh," Martin immediately said when asked why he thought of opening a bar. This is not the first time for the Kapuso actor to engage in a business. It can be recalled that he opened an online shop, which has also been successful.

Joggling business and work may have also helped Martin not to feel bad about intrigues being thrown at him. "Kahit konting hurt, wala. Kasi I am so secure of myself... Kahit yung mga roles na tinatanggap ko, ayokong malimit dahil lang sa mga gossips... Kung ili-limit ko yung sarili ko kasi sa mga intriga lang, hindi worth it," he remarked.

Would he still be doing gay roles? "Yes, as long as hindi paulit-ulit yung mga ginagawa," he replied. "Every time I play a gay role, I see to it na iba yung atake ko sa... Nag-play na ko ng transgender. Sa Dagitab, hindi ko alam na gay ako... Basta iba't-ibang level." In fact, he said, he is about to play another gay role on an indie film soon.

Looks like we have more to look forward for Martin del Rosario both in TV and on the big screen. He has a lot to offer as an entrepreneur too. Congrats Martin!
