While waiting for his soap with Maine Mendoza, Alden Richards is set to be part of the new Encantadia. His role? Lakan, a Mulawin who will fight with the diwatas of Lireo.
This was confirmed in an interview with Nelson Canlas which was aired on August 17's episode of 24 Oras. Earlier tonight was also the first flight of Miguel Tanfelix who is reprising his role as Pagaspas. "Happy naman ako Kuya Nelson kasi actually, growing up, lumaki ako na may Encantadia eh," Alden said.
This will be the first time that Alden will portray an action role. The Pambansang Bae, however, is confident on keeping up with the requirements of the role. "Dapat fit din. Buti na lang may konting background tayo sa working out."
Will Alden's addition be enough to gain more ratings for Encantadia? In the August 2016 results of Kantar, Ang Probinsyano is beating Encantadia in double digits, 40.9% versus 20.3%. AGB, however, reported that Encantadia narrowly beat Ang Probinsyano last Friday, August 12, 26.1% versus 25.1%.
Insiders, meanwhile, report that Alden's appearance in Encantadia would be short, noting that he has to start filming his new project with Maine Mendoza soon. Alden confirmed his primetime project during his thanksgiving party with the press.
