Hate incites hate. And in a time when everyone has a platform to voice out their opinions, in more often than not — a negative tone, the intention of suggesting a solution to a problem veers away from the developmental route. For actress Jodi Sta. Maria, who has launched her YouTube account The JSM Channel, she will invest more on “professional insights” for a more specific and sound take on certain topics.
“What I’ll share there is my own personal views, my experiences about it. Like what I also said awhile back, there will be subject matter experts who will be with us (in the show),” she says.
The JSM Channel itself is branded to be discussing about positive things. The channel will have three shows. First is ‘Live Light’, which as the name suggests, will be about taking life as positive as possible. Jodi will respond to a letter sender’s questions in this show. ‘JSM Travels and Tours’, meanwhile, will be a fun twist on exploring new tastes and places, while ‘Let’s Drink To That’ is a mini-talk show where Jodi is joined by social media personality AC Soriano and comedian Cheen Crab for a random discussion about anything under the sun.
While there may be times that they will present their personal take on things, Jodi believes that there is always a positive way of saying them, emphasizing also on respecting the opinions of others. “Hindi naman talaga lahat nag a-agree sa isang idea. Pag nag present ka ng isang idea, maraming different takes doon sa idea na ‘yun,” she narrates.
“What we are trying to do here is not necessarily to educate people. But to give them different sets of perspectives. We are not trying to shove it down their troaths,” the actress discusses further.
For social media personality AC Soriano who is known to be vocal on certain societal issues on her Twitter account @ItsACsLife, they would prefer to leave the hard-lining facts on primetime news. “Good news lang kami. ‘Yung hard news, meron din siyang avenue which is ‘yung 7 to 8 na news,” she says.
As to the reason why she is launching The JSM Channel, this signal her intention to shift to a more personal interaction with her followers. Even before her latest series ‘Lavender Fields’ ended in January, Jodi had already set her plans on re-creating her YouTube Channel. She asked herself what will she do next.
Although Jodi repeatedly affirms at the press conference held right after the platform’s launch at the Novotel Tent in Araneta City, that she is not leaving show business entirely. She is only taking a pause from acting for the rest of the year to focus her energy on her new YouTube channel.
The JSM Channel will start streaming new episodes on March 4. For Jodi, she will forever anchor her contents on the aspects of ‘evolving, inspiring, and exploring’, her three pillars in entering her content creator era.
