Their shows maybe up against each other but Derrick Monasterio clarifies that there is no competition between him and former fellow Kapuso Aljur Abrenica. Derrick topbills Mulawin vs Ravena, who was previously being aired at the same timeslot with Aljur Abrenica's new show on his network, Ang Probinsyano.
"Happy na happy lang ako for the career of Kuya AJ. Congratulations din sa kanila ni Kylie for their new baby. Basta, ganun pa din ang relationship namin ni Kuya AJ," the Kapuso hunk said. As of this writing, Mulawin vs Ravena is already on its final two weeks and is pitted anew against La Luna Sangre after changes in GMA 7's primetime lineup. Ang Probinsyano continues to occupy ABS-CBN's first primetime slot and is now up against Dingdong Dantes's reprised action series Alyas Robin Hood.
Mulawin vs Ravena may be close to culmination but the work still continues for Derrick. "Di na po ako umiinom. Kahit birthday ko, wala na talaga. Hanggang wine na lang. I only eat eggs, banana, camote. And I drink a lot of water," says the hunky actor who was to flaunt a lot of skin for his role as half bird, half human.
Derrick debunked rumors though na he was almost hospitalized becuase of the physical demands of his role. "No naman (na hospital). Pero mabilis lang talaga ako manghina. There was one time na nahirapan na ako mag drive pauwi. I have to take a power nap kasi di na talaga kaya."
But while Derrick is embarking a strict diet program, he helped feed the children at San Del Monte Heights Elementary School in Bulacan. He toured the classrooms of the public school to personally assist in the feeding of the students. "I really wanna be an advocate of health, fitness and nutrition. Kaya maganda din na ito ang ginawa ko for my birthday."
Derrick Monasterio just turned 22 last August 1st. He has grown to be one of the bankable stars of the Kapuso network.
